New Moon 16º Leo 14′

We’ve felt this spark of change in the air louder this week, than perhaps most weeks this year. It’s like being outside right before or after a thunderstorm, the hairs on our arms stand up. Uranus is squaring our New Moon in Leo. Highlighting one of the major themes this year – “Change is gonna come.”
Leo is the sign of fixed fire and the royal cat. Here we stand on a path under the darkest Moon in the middle of summer, in the middle of a world on fire, with heels dug, and hearts no doubt tired. It’s dark, and we think there is no way forward. If we rest our eyes a bit, Mercury Quincunx Neptune is asking us to let go of the fine detail and settle into the cat’s night vision.
Cats can see in the night by eliminating extraneous detail. With Mars and Venus in Virgo – we may find ourselves annoyed at the lack of focus, yet this may be precisely how we move forward in a good way. The less detail we see the bigger picture starts to take shape. Once we get used to the idea of hiking a trail on the darkest night, the edges of plants start to glow, the stars shine brilliantly, and our perspective completely shifts. This vista is a gift available on the darkest night.
With the Sun squaring Uranus, starting Aug 6, it illuminates a different path through taking a new route or the same route in an unexpected way. Use the restless energy to propel forward. See any disruption as clearing a new path. With the Moon squaring Uranus, our emotional need to break free may get the best of us. Changing direction to only contrast perceived limits, perceived authority, or fear is still letting those elements chart the course. Emotions are always temporary. Anger or resentment is never a good compass. With Venus opposing Neptune, it’s a reminder that rose-colored glasses aren’t effective either.
If we can walk with the prowess of the lion at night, our soul’s hunt is most effective. The healing potential may lie in less information and taking a risk of our hearts. Moving forward from our heart’s desire, step by step in the dark, noticing the subtle differences along the way – as diffused as the view is.
This New Moon is sandwiched between 2 Aquarius Full Moons. As the illumination builds towards the next Full Moon – the details of our path may be revealed, shadows become less threatening then. Step by step, friends. We are blazing brand new trails here.
