Peace & Yoga to You, Friends!

Hello Strong & Peaceful Cosmic Seekers,

I want to share this article from Plum Village (Thich Nhat Hanh‘s Organization): “A Zen Master’s tips for staying sane in challenging times”: https://plumvillage.org/articles/a-zen-masters-tips-for-staying-sane-in-challenging-times/

It contains some good & useful tips, take what resonates for you.

The first item is to “Guard the Morning”. Setting aside an intentional routine, a morning ritual, has the power to shape how you feel the rest of the day.

These times are challenging… dare I say a hearty No Sh**! to that?!  I hope that makes you laugh.

We have all had moments where our highest Self is overcome by our shadow self. Rather than turn judgement inward, outward, and all around; let’s resolve to start with “Guarding the Morning”. I know some of us balance work, childcare, healthcare, and sometimes all three… perhaps it is just a 2 minute timer on your phone to focus on your breath before you get out of bed?

I invite you to experiment and find what works for you. The article above shares some wonderful Zen like ideas on cultivating a mindful day. I also think a routine of belting out your favorite song in the shower each morning could be beneficial. A heart bench in bed for 3 minutes? It doesn’t have to be an hour of yoga ever morning to have an impact. For a good amount of time over the summer, my morning ritual was dancing in my kitchen to the Velvet Underground  – because it helped me embody joy.  You get the idea.  Of course I would recommend a daily yoga and meditation practice. I share these options as well, because I think it’s important to honor your true nature so you stick with it. Keep it simple. I find committing to one morning routine strictly for an entire season is good. It can always shift for the next season/month.  The key is to guard it and keep it, no matter what is going on.

I’ll be sharing my New Moon Astrology writing Tuesday on Instagram. Below is information on public yoga classes for Tuesday and Wednesday at 6pm via Zoom. Yoga for Chronic Headaches and Migraines

I designed this gentle hatha and yin yoga practice for support in times of chronic headaches or migraines. It is born from my own experience of prolonged migraine headaches. I was seeking a drug free way to alleviate pain in an effort to avoid any side effects ‘circular migraines’.

The pain of migraines can be so intense we lose our connection to self. In those moments of sharp pain, we can feel desperate to stop our physical suffering at any cost. That “high pitched feeling” can sometimes cycle back to inadvertently create more pain. This practice will give you some yogic tools to help soothe yourself during times of headache, pre-migraine, and post-migraine.

Each participant will leave with a pdf outlining simple yoga postures that can help during for pre-migraine and post migraine. All participants will also receive a guided meditation for use during migraine or any time pain is an issue. This workshop will be a Love Your Brain friendly workshop, and those impacted by mTBI and TBI are invited to attend. For this particular workshop, students should be able to get up and down from the ground unassisted.

This class will take place via Zoom. Participants will be emailed link one day prior to workshop. We’ll use props such as yoga blocks, blankets, and straps. Good home item substitutes could be: a sturdy cushion or book, a pillow, a throw blanket or beach towel, and a belt from a robe or a sash. If you are currently experiecing financial difficulty for any reason, please reach out. I share this practice in support.

Workshop Cost: $33
